Aviation tools such as ground support equipment have to meet all safety requirements and ensure the highest quality of aviation tools. Ground support equipment is used to serve aircraft during flights. The universal low profile transportation/shipping stand (the Transporter Stand – FB70077-200/FB70077-2ASH) is designed to support and convey aircraft engine of different types both within aircraft maintenance areas and transportation by road, sea and air.
The transporter stand accepts and secures the aircraft engine and support cradle to enable mobility and satisfactory transportation by land or air. Jet engine support cradle is supported by the transverse cross box members, which rest on eight, (four per side) shock absorber pads. Each cross box member has the location attachments. This method of securing ensures that any vibration or shock impact load imparted to the ground support equipment is dampened prior to reaching the cradle and aircraft engine. The cradle is secured to the transporter stand with four bolts and locking pins via holes in each.
Ground support equipment is the main part of jet operations while on ground. Aviation tools such as transporter stand is equipped with standard spring loaded castor wheels at each corner, or can be supplied with the alternative ‘Ackerman’ type steering systems each end. The wheels can be raised to allow the transporter stand to sit directly on the ground. The transporter stand can be fitted with two optional & extra ‘bumper’ bars pinned to it, one at each end, which protect the jet engine and cradle from being struck externally.
At the ‘forward’ end of the standard castor equipped transporter, a tow bar, is attached via locking pins to enable mechanised ‘tug’ transport to be attached. The tow bar can be dismantled and folded up for easy storage, at the front end, for despatch and shipping.
The transporter stand can be raised from the floor by means of a fork lift truck, locating in the fixed locations at 1587.5 mm centres. This arrangement facilitates the raising and lowering of each castor or wheel unit. Access can be obtained from either side of the unit. These positions are marked FORK LIFT and are the only positions where it is safe to lift the stand with a fork lift truck. This is a condition of safe use of the stand and must be performed carefully to avoid any possibility of damage or accidents.
Please keep in mind: it is important to have at least two operators in attendance during this operation.
Ten tie down rings (five on each side) are available on the longitudinal sides of the transporter stand for lashing down during shipping (when the wheels are in the raised condition).Standard ground support clearance, with wheels lowered, is 100mm.

Aircraft tools including the transporter stand can be factory finished to customer requirements. Normal finish is ‘Skydrol’ Resistant Gloss Paint. Towing speed of the stand during workshop & aircraft maintenance ground handling is limited to a maximum of 3 m.p.h. (5 km/h), over a hard, flat and level surface. This is a safety requirement and must always be adhered to. Failure to do so could result in an accident and or damage to the equipment and jet engine.
